About Us

Leah Bakes started in my Mum & Dads kitchen in 2019 when a friend from work asked if I could make her a birthday cake for her grandson. After this I fell in love with baking and started making cakes/ other bakes for family & friends.

In 2020 after I started doing more alongside a full time job  & having to say no to doing cakes to go and work shifts at my job, I slowly lowered my hours and then decided to take the plunge to take on Leah Bakes full time. A few were scared about this including me but I knew it was what I wanted to do. This is when Leah Bakes really bloomed, I dedicated every hour I had, to the point I would make over 30 cakes a week!

Shortly after going full time along with covid & lockdowns, I began feeling pretty lonely, I loved making the cakes, but not having a work family, friends or Jamie around for most days made me and Jamie both question what we wanted. We knew together we could take Leah Bakes to the next level, so Jamie left his job to help and me and we started our search for a shop.

After a long time searching and viewing different shops we got the phone call to say we had our shop on Crossland Way. We got the keys in November 2021 and started bringing our vision to life.

Fast forward to April and having announced our opening day for the 15th, we spent all of the 13th & 14th preparing and baking for the opening. We stayed until 3am baking on the 14th not knowing what response we would get on the opening. The nerves and pressure leading up to this were more than we’ve ever felt before. Opening the shutters to see so many faces for the first times was unforgettable.

We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us since the shop opening and we can’t wait to see where this journey keeps on taking us, but most importantly we want to keep coming up with new ideas, new recipes and different bakes for everyone to enjoy & make sure everyone who visits Leah Bakes has the best experience possible.
